*Erotic Paranormal Romance* After a hellish month of searching, Immortal warrior Jax and his brethren, the Guardians of the Realms, are nowhere near finding the sleeping God who was stolen by their enemy. As if that isn't problem enough, after millennia, other Guardians are dropping like flies to the mating frenzy. Jax never dreamed he could be next. After all, he’s too flawed, his sexual appetite too insatiable to ever be completely fulfilled by one being. Could a lone female even handle his needs let alone quench his never ending desire? Ileana lives a solitary life in the shadows, a ghost thirsting for vengeance. A warrior Ailouros, half cat, whose sheer existence has been kept secret by a special ability no one can know exists, she is closed off and trusts no one. After thousands of years spent in near isolation while hunting her prey, she has finally found a clue leading to the location of her enemy. Revenge is at hand. When a fantastically hot Guardian unknowingly puts himself in the middle of a deadly intrigue, nearly ruining her careful plans, Ileana is forced to make a choice. Her one chance at finding vengeance will hinge on hurling them both into piercing ecstasy. Warning: This book is intended for an adult audience. There are dirty talking Guardians with bad language, some violence, and explicit scenes hot enough to give you cat scratch fever.

About the Author:

The sad truth is that I'm not nearly as entertaining as fiction. *Wink* I am a thirty-seven year old stay at home writer, thanks to my incredibly supportive husband. We've been together for thirteen years and I still love waking up next to that sexy man. We lost our furry child recently, so we are childless at the moment. Our whole world revolved around her. Needless to say, I love animals, especially dogs. Okay, maybe not all animals, I'm not a super big fan of monkeys. Any animal that throws their feces kind of eeks me out. I may, or may not, have a problem with candy. I love any research that leads to Neiman Marcus' online shoe department. Spreadsheets give me way more happiness than they should. I love to read, the dirtier the better. It all started with the naughty historical romances by Judith McNaught that I devoured as a teenager. I love reading about hot, sexy alpha males and heroines that are smart enough to live.

A friend's deception. A family's dilemma. While cataloguing looted antiquities in Brussels, archaeologist Grace Madison discovers that her daughter has vanished in France, and her son's bride has been attacked in Switzerland. After the Madisons unearth a relic whose taproot pierces the Ancient Near East, they realize that before they can save themselves, they must rescue an old friend. If he'll let them.? They sacrifice hearts and lives in a race against eternity on a four-thousand-year-old trail crossing three continents. Because choosing what's right is all that's left.

1st Arrondissement, Paris

(Author’s note: Protagonist Grace Madison’s son, Jeff, has narrowly avoided being killed by an oncoming Peugeot. During his drop-and-roll, he damaged the relic the family hopes will lead to the rescue of Maggie, his sister and Grace and Mark’s daughter. They’re across the street from the Tuileries Garden that abuts the Louvre. Grace narrates.)

“There’s something wrong with this cuneiform.” Jeff’s pocket pulsated as he fondled the clay tablet, then pulled only half to the folded edge.
“It’s broken,” his dad said.
Thank you, Mark.
“We know,” the three of us stated loudly.
“I mean it’s strange. Where can we look at it privately?” Jeff turned to his dad. “We can’t stay here.”
“Follow me.” Mark pivoted to the rue Saint-HonorĂ© and from the Tuileries Gardens.

Hearing no other suggestions, we followed him. Up the hotel steps, into the antechamber outside the men’s restroom next to the bar we left a couple of hours earlier. Becca and I stopped. He held the door. “Come on. No time to be girly.”
Jeff and Mark checked stalls, which were empty. God answers prayers. Becca pulled from her purse a multi-purpose tool that looked like an impulse buy from a rack at a Home Depot register. She ejected slim blades, popping them in and out of the lock until one stuck.
“Thank you.” I patted my daughter-in-law on the back. “Yours is an usual, but welcome, skill set, my dear.”
“Any time, Dr. M. And no, Jeff, you can’t have it.” After only months of marriage, she knew the Madison males’ genetic predisposition to tool obsession.
We clustered at the changing table, a politically correct addition to men’s rooms in developed countries. I moved two bitter-orange infusers in front of us, under the wide mirror. Jeff hovered over the cuneiform halves to inspect
<spoiler deleted>
“May I see it?” I shifted under the light, pulled my jeweler’s loupe—I don’t leave home without it—to my eye. “It’s been opened. Recently. Erratic oxidation. Normally I’d say take it to a pro. Since Maggie’s missing, I say we do it. It’s soft.” I poked the artifact, feeling thin metal give under pressure.
“Semitic.” Jeff squinted at it now. “Possibly Aramaic, or Egyptian, on the reverse side.”
“Here we go.” Mark rolled his eyes and joined Becca, his frame dwarfing her petite self. Jeff and I stepped back as the restroom door rattled. Becca pushed the tool to ensure it held until matters outside became urgent.
Momento, por favor.” Mark called at the door. “Housekeeping.”
“We’re in Franccccccce,” I hissed.
Jeff continued delicately, murmuring to himself. “We’ll have questions once we see what’s here. Who opened it recently? Dr. Steele? Is this what makes the cuneiform special?”
I handed him the loupe as the noises became more insistent. “Quickly.”
“I’ve seen this before.” Jeff turned it this way and that.
“May I?” I asked. He laid the <spoiler deleted> in my hand. The language was beyond me. But I recognized the illustration. “Madaba?”
Yes.” His blue eyes twinkled victoriously. The rest of his face remained stiff. “The mosaic map of the known world. St George’s Chapel, Jordan. AD five to six hundred? Unless there’s a similar one still hidden somewhere, which I doubt.”
“So that’s where we’re headed?” Becca spoke to us, but her hand was against the thumping door. Animated French accompanied keys rattling in the lock as the tool tilted toward the floor. “What’s our story?”
“Nonsense.” Mark lifted the door lever. “We don’t need a story.”
Her hand was at her back now, and I clutched the <spoiler deleted> flat against my thigh through my coat pocket. Jeff stepped behind his father, in front of Becca and me.
“We’re in Franccccccce,” Mark teased. “They’re liberal- minded. I’ll bet women are in the men’s room all the time.” He opened the door and probably thought he was funny.
I did not.

Advance Praise for My Brothers Keepers:

"The Brothers' Keepers, book 2 in the?Parched?series, delivers masterful international suspense driven by contemporary family dynamics. Light the late-night oil because you won't want to put this book down."-
DiAnn Mills, Christy Award Winner

"I thought Horton peaked with her first novel, When Camels Fly. I'll admit, I was wrong. The Brothers' Keepers is magnificent! The main characters from her first novel are beautifully developed in this sequel. This is a more accessible novel than When Camels Fly mainly because of the location -- Europe. She incorporates the history of the places her characters visit, and she weaves an incredibly feasible story around these events. The story is as complex as When Camels Fly, a good thing that requires close reading, but it is well worth the effort. I highly recommend reading When Camels Fly before this one and continuing journeying with the Madison family!-
Leigh Bennett, Reader

"I am once again became enthralled by the exploits of an intelligent, older woman and her family whom I first got to meet in When Camels Fly. It's so rare to find a heroine that the more mature amongst us can relate to on some level. I look forward to learning more about Grace, Mark, Maggie, Jeff and Becca as they become embroiled in yet another adventure after Maggie goes missing and an attempt is apparently made on Becca's life whilst she and Jeff are honeymooning in Switzerland."-

Blood Assassin
The Sentinels # 2
By: Alexandra Ivy
Releasing December 30th, 2014
Source: Netgalley

They are the outcasts of humanity. Blessed with power. Cursed by fate. Driven by passion. The Sentinels have returned…

At six-foot-three and two-hundred-fifty pounds, Fane is a natural born guardian. A flawless mix of muscled perfection and steely precision, he has devoted years of his life to protecting a beautiful necromancer. But after she found love in the arms of another, Fane has been a warrior adrift. He swears allegiance only to the Sentinels. And no woman will ever rule his heart again…

Not only a powerful psychic, Serra is that rare telepath who can connect to minds through objects. When the daughter of a high-blood businessman is kidnapped, Serra agrees to help. But when she stumbles onto a conspiracy involving secret sect and ancient relics, her life is in mortal danger—and Fane is her only hope. Is the warrior willing to risk his body, his soul, and his heart, for Serra? Or will one last betrayal destroy them both?

Blood Assassin is my debut read for Alexandra Ivy and it will not be my last.  I have heard so many good things about this author and I was glad for the opportunity to receive a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Being an avid fan of all things paranormal, I am always looking for stories in that genre, which will keep me on the edge of my seat and have me yearning for more.  Blood Assassin did that and more.  The story was so intriguing that I went and bought a copy of the previous book in the series.  (NB Blood Assassin can be read as a stand-alone).

The story centres on Fane, (a sentinel) and Serra (a psychic and telepath). These two have been in love with each other from the moment they met.  However, Fane was determined to keep his distance as he felt that giving in to his feelings would complicate his duty as a sentinel.  Serra tried everything to get him to admit his feelings, but he refused to budge.  His determination to keep his distance led to his decision to leave Valhalla. However, his plans for departure were disrupted when Serra was forced to help save a kidnapped child. What followed is a story of intrigue, action, drama sprinkled with some hot and sexy romance.

The characters in their own way were awesome, but the ones that stood out for me were Fane and Serra. Fane is the strong, silent type. Fane was raised under a strict and stringent regime which taught him to keep his feelings under control.   This, however, did not stop him from loving Serra.  His love for her is so profound that he will gladly give his life to keep her from harm. I like stories where the female heroine is portrayed as being strong and independent with a sweet and sexy side.  As a result, I was immediately drawn to Serra. She is not afraid to go after what she wants and this includes Fane.

The romance was hot and the action non-stop.
The story is fast paced it held my attention to the end.  The story ended well, but based on events it’s clear that there is next book in the making and I can’t wait to get my hands on it when it is released.

Overall, I felt it was an enjoyable read.  If you are looking for a unique paranormal story, then I recommend that you read this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
